Yesterday Evening...

I'm not sure why, but sitting in her high chair or sitting in her car seat is something Payton seems to enjoy when she is having a rough day. I don't know if it's the sensory input of the chair holding her and being strapped in or what, but it really helps calm her down. So, this is where she spent a lot of her time last night...in the car seat. If we needed to go to different areas of the house Bob would just carry her in her seat and off we'd be in the other room. Don't ask me why - but it works.
And, thanks Aunt Shawna for the new rubber boots. She LOVES them and wants to wear them everyday. Shawna got them for Laney (Payton's 2 yr old cousin/best friend) and Payton to share when they are out on the farm.....I have a feeling Laney will have to fight for them!

Awwwww. She looks so happy and content there. I am glad you found something that calms her. I bet you are so relieved. For so long, Keith had a Fisher Price Rocking chair that I could strap him in and he could rock himself. He finally gre out of it, but it sounds like he needed the same stimulation as Payton.

Hey whatever works. Noah slept in his car seat for the first year of his life. I put it in his crib so he would at least know where he was supposed to be. I guess that didn't work since most nights he ends up in bed with us.

I've been thinking about you and hoping you are having better days with Payton.

I agree with Julie, whatever works. Emerson slept in her swing for the first year of her life until the motor gave out. :)

It sure seems like you are right on with Payton liking that deep sensory input. Maybe having the straps tightly on her makes her feel secure like she knows where her body is in space. I read the previous comments about the weighted blankets or even a weighted vest might help. I remember a few years ago, I worked with a child who had a hammock type swing in the home that would wrap around him pretty tightly and calm him right down.

She looks adorable, by the way, in those boots!

That photo is adorable.

We had the day from hell, but it's over now, and we are all smiling. Thank goodness for blog buddies and rum. :)

Hope you have a great weekend. I love Payton to pieces.

That's a great picture. I'm hoping for better days for you soon. That must be so difficult and heartbreaking to watch her lose control like that.
We love you guys!

Oh My Gosh! LoL!!!! she is Caleb's twin!!!!!! He walked around in rubber boots last night all night. And let me tell you, that is nothing new! He loves boots and will wear snow boots in the summer with shorts if I let him. I think he thinks they look cool! He reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite with the moon boots.
I love the picture :)
